In the 1960's, Hong Kong's
industries developed rapidly, especially the textiles industry. Influenced
by American films as well as the completely westernized appearances
of local movie stars like Chan Po-chu and Siu Fong-fong etc.,
great changes were brought to Hong Kong's fashion.
Women's suits gradually took the place of cheungsams
and other Chinese style garments, which were no longer considered
trendy and stylish.
As for men, western-styled suits reached its prime
and the most stylish jackets at that time had smaller collars
and lower splits.
